Shisen-Sho Game Guide

📖 About

Shisen-Sho (also known as Sichuan Mahjong) is a tile-matching puzzle game using traditional mahjong tiles! Unlike other matching games, tiles don't need to be on the edges—they just need a clear connecting path with at most two turns. This creates strategic depth as you plan which pairs to remove first to unlock new matches. A perfect blend of relaxation and mental exercise!

🎯 Objectives

Remove all tiles from the board by matching pairs of identical tiles. Tiles can only be matched if they can be connected by a path with no more than two turns (three line segments). Clear all tiles to win!

🎮 How to Play

Click two matching tiles (same suit and value) to remove them. Tiles must be reachable without going through other tiles. Clear all tiles to win!

⌨️ Controls

Click on a tile to select it, then click on a matching tile to remove both. The path between them must be clear with at most two 90-degree turns.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a valid path?
A valid path connects two tiles with at most two turns (three straight line segments). The path can go around other tiles but cannot pass through them. Think of it as connecting tiles with a pipe that can bend twice.
Can I match tiles that are blocked?
If a tile is completely surrounded by other tiles with no clear path out, it cannot be matched until some blocking tiles are removed. Plan your matches to unlock trapped tiles.
What's the difference from regular Mahjong Solitaire?
In Mahjong Solitaire, only free tiles (not covered or blocked on sides) can be matched. In Shisen-Sho, any visible tiles can be matched as long as there's a valid connecting path, even if they're in the middle of the board.
Are all puzzles solvable?
Most well-designed layouts are solvable, but some random arrangements may not be. If stuck with no possible matches, the game usually offers a shuffle or new game option.
