Frogger Strategy Guide: How to Cross Safely Every Time

The road section is the first major challenge. Vehicles travel at different speeds in alternating directions across multiple lanes. The key is patience - wait for a clear gap before committing to a crossing. Watch the traffic patterns for a few seconds before making your move. Vehicles follow predictable lanes and speeds. Once you identify the rhythm, you can time your crossing to slip through safely. Use the median strips (safe zones between lanes) to break your crossing into stages. Don't try to cross all lanes at once. Stop on a median, reassess, then continue.

The river section is trickier than the roads because you must ride moving objects (logs, turtles) instead of avoiding them. Falling in the water costs a life, so timing and positioning are critical. Jump onto logs and turtles as they pass, then ride them across. But don't ride too far - if a log carries you off the edge of the screen, you die. Always be ready to jump to the next object. Turtles periodically dive underwater, taking you with them. Watch for the animation that signals an imminent dive and jump to a safe platform before it happens.

Log rides require precise timing. You need to jump onto a log when it's within range, then either ride it to the other side or hop between logs to reach the home bases. The logs move at different speeds, so plan your jumps accordingly. When jumping between logs, time your leap for when the logs are closest together. Missing a jump means falling in the water. It's better to wait an extra moment for ideal positioning. Some levels have short logs that barely fit your frog. These require extra precision when landing. Aim for the center of each log to maximize your margin of safety.

The final challenge is reaching one of the five home bays at the top of the screen. Each bay must be filled, and hazards like snakes and crocodiles can appear in the home area. A bay already occupied by a crocodile is deadly. Plan which home bay you're targeting before you start your river crossing. The center bays are usually easiest to reach, while the edge bays may have different hazard patterns. Each time you fill all five bays, the level advances with faster traffic, shorter logs, and more hazards. The fundamentals remain the same, but your timing window shrinks with each level.
